Channing Tatum, who is reprising his Deadpool & Wolverine role as Gambit in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, has revealed a major spoiler from the movie.
According to Tatum, his Gambit is involved in a “big fight” with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. However, due to a leg injury on set, his stunt double performed most of the action sequences, while Tatum only stepped in for close-up shots during his recovery.

In a recent interview with Variety, Tatum said, “We had tons more shooting,” including a “big fight” with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Due to his injury, Tatum was sidelined, stepping in only for close-ups while his stunt double handled the heavy action scenes. He added, “Today, I’ve taken the day off my pain meds so I wouldn’t be falling asleep on you and drooling. My body doesn’t do well with codeine — and those painkillers the U.K. doctors gave me were strong.”
Tatum confirmed that Gambit will not have a heavy Cajun accent in Avengers: Doomsday, as studio executives debated how understandable the accent would be for general audiences. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo want humor in the film but are avoiding a full Deadpool-style comedic approach.
Tatum said, “I’m not gonna go full Cajun. [Directors Anthony and Joe Russo] want things to be funny, but they don’t want to go full ‘Deadpool.’ They want to keep the drama and keep it tight. When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”
There is a deleted scene in Deadpool & Wolverine that ties directly to Avengers: Doomsday. “Gambit leaving the Void in Deadpool & Wolverine was originally planned as the teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, where he returns to his universe — the same one seen in The Marvels post-credit scene.”

During Destination D23, the Russo brothers revealed that Avengers: Doomsday is “the biggest film they’ve ever made.”
Joe and Anthony Russo said, “Hi, D23 members. This is Joe and Anthony Russo. Right now, we’re in London shooting Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. This movie is, to say the least, a big one for us. It’s bigger than anything we’ve ever done. We’re bringing together so many of your favorite heroes to face one of Earth’s greatest threats in the MCU.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday is now being co-written by McFeely and Michael Waldron, the creator and head writer of the Loki series. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
In Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU begins the beginning of the end. As the multiverse nears total collapse, the Avengers assemble to face their greatest challenge yet—incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that could destroy the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful figure behind it all—Victor Von Doom (Downey Jr.).
The official cast members of the film include Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.
