Chaitra Vedullapalli and her Women in Cloud colleagues have thrown their hats in the ring with their Oscar-qualifying short, ICONS, detailing the trajectories of women rising in the world of tech and how their hard-fought victories opened the way for others to do the same.
According to Vedullapalli, “ICONS is more than a documentary; it’s a love letter from the future, showcasing how individuals can rise to become role models for others who are seeking the same future.”
Representation, equity, and inspiration. With the Oscar race heating up, ICONS reminds us that the stories we tell today shape the future we create tomorrow.
To that end, Women in Cloud has formed Women in Cloud Films, and they have future plans to assist filmmakers in funding short films and helping them navigate the festival and awards circuits. 2025 should be an “iconic” year for the ICONS of Women in Cloud Films. It’s about women empowerment, a strong theme in these times.
Below, you can see a panel about the film, moderated by Kat Kramer, with the producers, directors, and cast of ICONS. Kramer is a force in the world of storytelling in her own right, inspired by the work of her father, the celebrated film director Stanley Kramer. The panel celebrates the journey of ICONS as it continues to inspire audiences worldwide and paves the way for meaningful conversations about leadership, community, and change.
“Change comes when people connect to a story and feel its emotion,” says Kramer.
