Disney is reportedly developing a Prince Charming movie, with Paul King set to direct.
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and Thunder, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) is reportedly being considered to star in King’s Prince Charming film for Disney.
Directed by King—who co-wrote the script with Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker—specific plot points remain undisclosed, but the film is expected to explore a fresh take on this iconic fairytale character. The character, famous for his connections to Disney princesses, is traditionally Cinderella’s love interest, though he is often mistakenly associated with Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
King directed two popular Paddington films, which followed the adventures of the young Peruvian bear in London, and he is also an executive producer for the upcoming Paddington in Peru. For King, the Prince Charming film aligns well with his creative vision, similar to that of the Paddington franchise. His latest directorial effort, Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet, grossed $634 million worldwide.
Hemsworth recently voiced Optimus Prime in Transformers One, directed by Josh Cooley, which grossed $113.8 million worldwide. He was also seen in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga as Dementus, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy. The film made $173 million against its budget of $168 million.
Filming is set to begin in 2025, with the release date yet to be announced.
