David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in Netflix’s Stranger Things series, states that the final season “is the best episode they’ve ever done.” He described how, during the read-through of the final episode, people began crying about halfway through. By the last 20 minutes, he noted, there was “uncontrollable crying” among the cast, with “waves of different people” moved by the script.

During the Happy Sad Confused podcast’s 10th-anniversary celebration in New York City, David Harbour provided important information about Stranger Things Season 5. He revealed that in Season 5, Episode 8, “they land the plane,” calling it the best episode the show has ever done. He also shared that during the read-through of the episode, cast members were moved to tears, particularly in the final 20 minutes.

“During the read-through of this episode—just us reading it—about halfway through, people started crying,” he said. “Then, in the last 20 minutes, there was just uncontrollable crying among waves of different people, with Noah Schnapp being my favorite.”

Speaking on Podcrushed Episode 73, Maya Hawke teased that ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 will have eight episodes and revealed that writing and filming each season takes a significant amount of time. Hawke said, “It takes a long time to write each season and a long time to shoot them. We’re making basically eight movies.”

Ross Duffer, the co-creator of the show, has already confirmed that the final season will involve multiple time jumps. Therefore, it appears Vecna will seek his revenge across different timelines. Duffer said, “I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we’d have shot [Seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. Also, Matt Duffer confirms that ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 will be the final season, concluding the stories of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper.

Season 5 stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven / Jane Hopper, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Hawke as Robin Buckley, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna / Henry Creel / One, and Linda Hamilton.

Stranger Things Season 5 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
