‘Stranger Things‘ Season 5 starts filming in January 2024, and Director Matt Duffer confirms it will be the final season, concluding the stories of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper.
Which characters’ stories will be concluded in the final season of Stranger Things?
In an interview with The Guardian, Matt said, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids.” Matt added, “It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one. And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here. That’s it.”
Matt continued, “Outside of the play.” He added, “So if you want to see more of some of them, go see the play.”
Everyone will be back together in Hawkins in the ‘Stranger Things’ final season, says the director. “The boys and Eleven are interacting more in line with how it was in season one.”
Speaking with WWD before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Millie Bobby Brown said, “I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year.” she added, “You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish, and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”
Stranger Things was created by the Duffer brothers. The show is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s and follows a group of friends as they uncover supernatural mysteries and government conspiracies.
Last year, Matt and Ross Duffer shared with Deadline that a key objective for the final season is to “stick the landing.”
Matt said, “Characters are already going to be in action; they’re already going to have a goal and a drive, and I think that’s going to carve out at least a couple hours and make this season feel really different.” Matt added, “I’m sure the wrap-up will be a lot longer. It’s going to be ‘Return of the King’-ish with, like, eight endings.”
