DC’s Blue Beetle is projected to earn $12 million to $17 million during its domestic opening weekend, which is less than ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ earned in its domestic run.
According to Box Office Pro, the current estimates for Blue Beetle’s total domestic earnings range from $27 million to $55 million. This could potentially mark DC’s worst box office debut in over 40 years.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ lack of investment in Blue Beetle’s promotion suggests they are not taking action to support the film. This decision comes after ‘The Flash’ performed poorly at the box office, resulting in a loss of over $100 million for the studio. Blue Beetle’s production cost is reportedly $120 million.

‘Blue Beetle’ is directed by Angel Manuel Soto, and stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, Bruna Marquezine as Jenny Kord, Belissa Escobedo as Milagros Reyes, Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord, and Raoul Trujillo as Conrad Carapax/The Indestructible Man (Watch the first look).
According to the film’s plot:
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.
