Note: This article contains spoilers for DC’s Lanterns.
The first trailer for DC’s Lanterns series was screened during HBO Max’s Upfront event in São Paulo. Although the teaser has not yet been released online, a description of the footage has leaked.
The teaser is described as a western-toned series set in rural America, with Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) training John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as a kind of “substitute teacher.” The two clash, with Stewart claiming he’s better than Hal at saving people.

The series carries a western-inspired tone, fitting for its rural U.S. setting with brownish color palettes reflected in the costumes.
Hal and John clash, with John insisting he is better than Hal at saving people. A brief shot shows Hal Jordan flying, though neither character’s uniform is revealed.

The teaser includes a quick mention of a squirrel Green Lantern, likely Ch’p from the comics.
Lanterns centers on Hal Jordan (Chandler) and John Stewart (Pierre), who are two members of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic team charged with defending a specific realm of the cosmos from evil through the use of rings that bestow an array of superhuman powers. The logline describes new recruit Stewart and Lantern legend Jordan as “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
