Note: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool will appear in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, but not as part of the Avengers. Instead of fighting alongside them against Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom, he will join Team Loki — a multiversal task force assembled by the TVA to protect Loki at the End of Time.
Who are the Exiles in Avengers: Doomsday?
The Exiles will reportedly appear in Avengers: Doomsday. They are a group of characters from alternate universes, recruited to fix anomalies in the multiverse. In Doomsday, the team will be created by the TVA, and the Deadpool & Wolverine movie already hinted at this when Paradox told Deadpool that he was special, chosen for a greater purpose, and that “the guy upstairs” had selected him for being different, with a very important role in the future.

Deadpool, Wolverine, and Laura Kinney (X-23) will be part of the Exiles, along with some What If…? characters and variants thrown into the Void. The TVA wants to protect Loki from Doctor Doom, but it is also reported that Doctor Doom will completely destroy the TVA.
Recently, THR reported that Reynolds will return as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday. However, “don’t expect him to actually be joining the Avengers team.”

Most recently, Reynolds shared on Instagram a photo of the Avengers’ iconic “A” (in white) with the Anarchy symbol (in red, spray-paint style) overlaid on top, which may have hinted at his Deadpool character’s appearance in the movie.
During filming in the United Kingdom, the Deadpool & Wolverine set was not dismantled but instead reworked for Avengers: Doomsday. Major scenes have been filmed in the Void, a dumping ground used by the TVA for anything they deem a deviation from the “sacred timeline.”
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday is now being co-written by McFeely and Michael Waldron, the creator and head writer of the Loki series. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
In Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU begins the beginning of the end. As the multiverse nears total collapse, the Avengers assemble to face their greatest challenge yet—incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that could destroy the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful figure behind it all—Victor Von Doom (Downey Jr.).
The official cast members of the film include Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.
