Following the premiere of Disney’s ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians,’ they renewed the show for season 2 during Disney’s latest quarterly earnings call. At that time, we had no details on the production date. Currently, we have found that the filming for season 2 is reportedly scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024, and is expected to wrap in January 2025.

According to the source, Knight Edge Media, the working title for season 2 is “Mink Golden,” and the filming location is set in Vancouver, Canada. The show was created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg for Disney+, and there is good news that director James Bobin is returning to direct multiple episodes. Recently, Craig Silverstein has been promoted to co-showrunner alongside E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz.

Also, Albert Kim (Avatar: The Last Airbender) joined the creative team as an executive producer. In season 2, Walker Scobell will return as Percy Jackson, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. Most cast to be added soon.

Season 1 has accumulated over 110 million hours of streaming on both Disney+ and Hulu. That averages to about 20.6 million total views when divided by the season’s runtime. The viewership grew steadily throughout the month-long run, with Episode 1 garnering 13.3 million views in its first six days.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Riordan revealed that he had the opportunity to view multiple cuts of all the episodes of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ so far. Riordan said, “I’ve seen cuts of all the episodes at this point, multiple cuts, because they do go through a manuscript, They go through revision, after revision, after revision. They’re great.”

According to the show’s logline from Disney+, the original series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

‘Percy Jackson’ season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in late 2025.
