Max has released the first teaser trailer for ‘Dune: Prophecy,’ a prequel to Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune (2021), which is set in the Dune universe. Watch the trailer below.
The show, created by Frank Herbert, explores the origins of the Bene Gesserit, an exclusive sisterhood with superhuman abilities. It’s set about 10,000 years before the events of Herbert’s novel Dune (1965) and serves as a prequel to Villeneuve’s Dune (2021).
What is the Plot of Dune: Prophecy?
According to Max, the official logline is as follows: “From the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”
The show stars Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, Jodhi May as Empress Natalya, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Mikaela, Aoife Hinds as Sister Emeline, Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Cor, Jade Anouka as Sister Theodosia, Chris Mason as Keiran Atreides, Josh Heuston as Constantine Corrino, Edward Davis as Harrow Harkonnen, Tabu as Sister Francesca, and Jihae as Reverend Mother Kasha.
Alison Schapker leads as showrunner and executive producer, with Diane Ademu-John co-developing and also serving as executive producer. Anna Foerster directs key episodes and also serves as executive producer. Other executive producers include Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts, alongside Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert representing the Frank Herbert estate. Anderson is the co-producer.
The series is a collaboration between Max and Legendary Television, with Legendary also producing the film franchise.
‘Dune: Prophecy’ will consist of six episodes and will premiere on Max in late 2024.
