The Russo Brothers confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will be “a new beginning” for the MCU. They said Endgame was the ending, and now these movies will start a new story.
In an interview with Omelete, the Russo Brothers spoke about the upcoming Avengers movies they are directing. “We told an ending story [with Avengers: Endgame], now we’re going to tell a beginning story.”
A recent report from The Cosmic Circus revealed that Avengers: Doomsday will mark the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As the multiverse nears total collapse, the Avengers assemble to face their biggest challenge yet—incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that could destroy the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful figure behind it all—Victor Von Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).
Speaking to Collider, the Russo Brothers confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday will be a massive film, while Avengers: Secret Wars will be even bigger, adapting a major crossover comic. They also mentioned that the runtimes will be similar to Infinity War and Endgame.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is joined by longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely, who is penning the screenplay.
