Exclusive: ‘Blue Beetle’ DVD Release Date Revealed

Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment and DC have announced the home entertainment releases for ‘Blue Beetle,’ directed by Angel Manuel Soto and starring Xolo Maridueña. The film will be available on digital HD platforms starting September 26, with 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD releases on October 31, 2023. You can pre-order now on Amazon.

Special Features Revealed for ‘Blue Beetle’ DVD Release

The ‘Blue Beetle’ Premium Digital Ownership, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray releases will include the following special features:

1. “Generations: Blue Beetle” – A 4-part documentary: Told in distinct chapters, explores the journeys of actors and filmmakers bringing “Blue Beetle” to the big screen for the first time ever. Audiences will be immersed in the POV of filmmakers who showcase their experiences on set and in their creative studios making the story of this DC character a reality.
2. “Nana Knows Best” – Featurette: Witness Nana’s transformation from an adorable ‘abuelita’ into a machine gun-wielding revolutionary, and stop in for a few of her most fun moments on set throughout production.
3. “Scarab Vision” – A 2-part featurette: Xolo Maridueña hosts this series of scene study walk-throughs that show how the scarab works and the role it plays in some of Blue Beetle’s most epic moments.

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, and stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, Bruna Marquezine as Jenny Kord, Belissa Escobedo as Milagros Reyes, Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord, and Raoul Trujillo as Conrad Carapax/The Indestructible Man.

‘Blue Beetle’ Plot:

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero blue Beetle.

‘Blue Beetle’ is fantastic, with impressive visuals, lively Latino music, thrilling action, and humorous moments. Every scene is well-executed, particularly the Blue Beetle suit transformation. This superhero origin story is definitely worth a watch. The film holds a 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes, 7/10 on IMDb, 60 on Metascore, and received a B+ CinemaScore. Read our full review.
