Chris Evans, who played Captain America in the MCU, will return for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘ as part of Marvel‘s plan to reunite the original Avengers in a new movie.

Recently, Variety reported that Marvel is in discussions about reuniting the original cast for a new ‘Avengers’ movie, with the possibility of bringing back Iron Man and Black Widow. While they haven’t officially confirmed the idea, Robert Downey Jr. has already agreed to return.

What did Captain America do in the past in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ and could he return for multiversal battles with the TVA?

In ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Captain America went back in time to return the Infinity Stones and chose to live a life with Peggy Carter in the past. Upon his return, he appeared as an old man who passed on his shield to Sam Wilson. It’s important to note that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) could potentially recruit him and other prime versions of heroes to face various Kangs, including Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine.

The return of the original six Avengers, including Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, would make the new Avengers movie even more anticipated and exceeding expectations.

As previously reported, ‘Secret Wars’ will be a soft reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Earth-1999. It marks the end of the current MCU and the Fox-Verse, setting the stage for a new and distinct MCU.

Michael Waldron pens the script, and the director could be Alfonso Cuarón or Sam Raimi. Reports indicate that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will play a “major part” in the storyline, which picks up after the events of ‘Deadpool 3’. Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, is set to be the main villain in “Secret Wars.” It’s unclear if the movie will follow the well-known 1980s storyline where the Beyonder brought Marvel characters to Battleworld. That storyline had a big impact, leading to Venom’s creation.

‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ hits theaters on May 7, 2027. See more details on Secret Wars.

Disney has recently made updates to its database of upcoming movie releases, providing access to the most current release dates.
