Marvel Studios has released the second trailer for Thunderbolts*, offering the first look at Lewis Pullman as Sentry/The Void. In fact, we finally get to see Marvel’s version of Superman.

In the trailer, we see the Void taking over Bob, aka Sentry, as he uses his molecule manipulation powers (which are often overlooked because he’s treated as a discount Superman by the masses). As a result, he completely flattens civilians into dust.

For the Thunderbolts team, Sentry is going to be a lethal threat. When Bucky (Sebastian Stan) tries to punch him, Sentry dismantles his Vibranium hand and kicks him away. Their team fight will feel like a group of humans taking on Superman.
During filming, we received an update that Sentry will follow a ‘no-kill rule’ in Thunderbolts*. The film will provide a clear explanation for why he doesn’t kill. However, it has been confirmed that Sentry’s destructive side—the Void—will manifest as a realm that characters can enter during the third act.
The trailer also featured Avengers Tower once again, now owned by Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). It will also serve as Sentry’s Watchtower.
In an interview with EW, Louis-Dreyfus said the Thunderbolts* movie will be a “completely different beast.” The film is filled with mystery, suspense, and surprises. She also described its vibe as “groovy.”
Louis-Dreyfus explained, “This movie is a real opportunity for me to explore the Val character. You really get to know what she’s made of, and even a lot of her backstory. She’s in it to win it.” She added with a smile, “You’re going to see her entire plan unfold. It has a lot of mystery to it, and there are some twists and turns you don’t see coming, which are the best kind. There’s a lot of suspense, which is very groovy.”
Directed by Jake Schreier and stars Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Pullman as Sentry, and Geraldine Viswanathan as Erin. Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are confirmed to reprise their roles as scientist Bill Foster and spy Melina Vostakov. Watch the trailer below.
Here’s the plot details for Thunderbolts*:
“Yelena Belova (Pugh), US Agent (Russell), Ghost (Starr), and Taskmaster (Kurylenko) are sent by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Louis-Dreyfus) to kill Sentry (Pullman) in a vault. They realize they’ve been set up and were meant to die on this mission. So they team up against their boss to take her down.”
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Brian Chapek, Matthew Jenkins, David J. Grant, and Scarlett Johansson.
Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 2, 2025, in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD, and premium screens worldwide.
