Disney’s Frozen 3 is getting a powerful new villain who may be more powerful than Elsa (Idina Menzel), confirmed by Disney Animation chief Jared Bush.
Since Bob Iger announced a new Frozen movie, details about Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Menzel), and Olaf (Josh Gad) have mostly been kept secret. At D23 in August, Disney shared a few details about the sequel, which will explore more of the princesses’ world.
In Frozen 3, Anna and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) will prepare for their wedding and honeymoon. Olaf will also have a new companion: a snowy girlfriend named Samantha. But a mysterious witch dressed in black threatens to ruin the sisters’ happily ever after.
Frozen 3 Villain’s Voice Has Already Been Recorded Multiple Times

In a recent interview with Collider, Bush said that Frozen 3 will feature a special story that may surprise fans. D23 attendees heard the new villain’s voice, but the actor’s identity has not been announced.
“I’d say that we have a very special story in store for people. I think one that will surprise people,” Bush said.
He also teased the new villain and how she compares to Arendelle’s former queen. “And we have a brand-new character coming in, a new villain, into the world of Frozen, and someone who may be more powerful than Elsa. So, lots going on.”
When asked when the villain’s voice actor would be announced, Bush teased, “We’ve already recorded her multiple times,” before adding, “Stay tuned.”

According to Bush, Frozen 3 will take place shortly after the events of Frozen 2, with some time having passed between the two films.
The sequel begins with Anna and Kristoff’s wedding, following Kristoff’s proposal at the end of Frozen 2. The exact time gap between the films will be revealed in Frozen 3.
Jared Bush Explains Why Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 Won’t Be Released Close Together
Bush said the Frozen films prioritize the characters’ emotional journeys over plot. The team initially hoped to release the two sequels close together, but that plan changed.
“Looking at Frozen 3 and what a Frozen 4 could look like, I know early on it was, ‘We’re going to put them right together, and they’re going to be out in the world. It’s going to happen quick.’ That’s not what we’re doing, for a lot of reasons. To me, an important one is we want to make sure that Frozen 3 is the best movie it can possibly be, so that when you get to the end of the movie, do you feel like you’ve watched a complete story? That it feels like something that feels fulfilling. That doesn’t always mean that everything is buttoned up, but it does mean that you have to be building to something that feels worthy of the end of a franchise that’s that important to people.”
Jennifer Lee returned to direct Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 after initially leaving the franchise’s future to other creators.
