Glen Powell is reportedly set to star in a new original science-fiction feature for Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists.
The film is titled Tesseract and is written and directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail. Powell will star in and produce the film with Dan Cohen under Barnstorm. The plot is being kept under wraps.
Esmail will produce the film through his company, Esmail Corp, along with Chad Hamilton. United Artists executives Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt are also attached as producers.
The filming is scheduled to begin in the summer in London and Hungary. The project also calls for two other lead roles, both female.
Glen Powell is currently filming season two of Chad Powers, his sports comedy series for Hulu, and most recently starred in The Running Man, Paramount’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel directed by Edgar Wright.
Sam Esmail is best known for creating Mr. Robot, the cyberthriller series that launched Rami Malek’s career and aired on USA Network from 2015 to 2019, and while he made his name in television, he has recently made major strides in feature films by attracting high-profile talent.
Esmail co-wrote and directed Leave the World Behind, a Netflix thriller starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, and Kevin Bacon that became a major hit, and he is currently in post-production on Panic Carefully, a Warner Bros. thriller starring Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Olsen, Eddie Redmayne, and Joe Alwyn.
