Fans have been waiting over a decade since Grown Ups 2 (2013), and now it’s official that Grown Ups 3 is in development and soon to start filming, with the original cast members Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider returning.
According to Production List, filming for Grown Ups 3 will begin on February 2, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada.
Here are the plot details for Grown Ups 3: “When a surprise inheritance lands Lenny Feder (Sandler), Eric Lamonsoff (James), Kurt McKenzie (Rock), Marcus Higgins (Spade), and Rob Hilliard (Schneider) in control of their childhood summer camp, they reunite for one last hurrah.“

Dennis Dugan, who directed both Grown Ups (2010) and Grown Ups 2 (2013), is returning to direct the third film, with the script penned by Fred Wolf, Tim Herlihy, and Sandler. Allen Covert and Eli Thomas are producing.
Speaking to IndieWire on the Happy Gilmore 2 carpet, Sandler said that making Grown Ups 3 “would be fun” and expressed excitement about returning to the franchise. He also mentioned that the team is “always thinking of some stuff and trying to get us all together.”
In a recent interview with The Direct, Kevin James said that Grown Ups 3 is moving forward, saying, “I think it’s happening—something’s happening.” He encouraged fans to keep hope alive for the sequel.
James added, “I think there have been. And I think, yeah, I think you can keep hope alive. I can say that. I would keep a lot of hope alive. And I think it’s happening—something’s happening. I can say that.”
Released in 2010, Grown Ups follows Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Chris Rock as three friends who reunite after the death of their childhood basketball coach, discovering that age doesn’t necessarily equal maturity. Its sequel, Grown Ups 2 (2013), sees Sandler’s character returning to his hometown to be closer to his friends, only to encounter old bullies, new bullies, party crashers, and more.
While both films were savagely panned by critics—Grown Ups earning just 10% and Grown Ups 2 8% on Rotten Tomatoes—they became fan favorites, with audiences still hoping to see the gang return to the big screen in a long-awaited third installment.
Sony Pictures is eyeing a release for Grown Ups 3 in late 2026 or early 2027.
Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 are now available to watch on Netflix.
