Filming for Guillermo Del Toro‘s upcoming sci-fi horror film Frankenstein, starring Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth, has officially wrapped, as confirmed by del Toro himself on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
On X, del Toro wrote, ‘Shooting has been completed on “F” – Joy!’
Filming began on February 12, 2024, in Toronto and, after a long 231-day shoot, finally wrapped on September 30. Directed by del Toro, the film is based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein. “Set in Easter Europe in the 19th Century, the story of Dr. Pretorious, who needs to track down Frankenstein’s monster- who is believed to have died in a fire forty years before–in order to continue the experiments of Dr. Frankenstein.”
The film stars Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster, Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Ralph Ineson.
During filming, Isaac was spotted in the costume of Victor Frankenstein on the set of Frankenstein. You can see the image below.
What is Frankenstein About?
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein—a brilliant but egotistical scientist—who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
Del Toro told Collider at the Pacific Rim 10th Anniversary IMAX 3D Event in early October 2023 that he officially acknowledged the project:
He said, “I’m doing Frankenstein. We’re working on it, we start shooting on it in February. It’s a movie I’ve been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein and I had an epiphany and is basically a movie that requires a lot of growth and a lot of tools that I couldn’t have done 10 years ago, 20 years ago and now I’m brave or crazy enough or something and we’re going to tackle it.”
The film is produced by Guillermo del Toro, Gary Ungar, and J. Miles Dale.
When is the Release Date for Frankenstein?
Frankenstein will be released on Netflix in 2025.
