Jack Black wants to return for a sequel to ‘The School of Rock‘.
According to Black, he wants to make ‘School of Rock 2‘ with Mike White returning to write the script. White is currently busy with HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3; once it is completed, they will plan for the School of Rock sequel.
Jack Black Ready for ‘School of Rock’ Sequel Return
In an interview with JOE, Black says he’s “ready” for a School of Rock sequel.
Black said, “I wish there’d be a School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo.” He added, “I’m ready.”
Black continued, “You know Mike White wrote the first one, and he’s a genius. And we’d have to have Mike White back in the saddle, but he’s really busy right now with White Lotus, the best show on TV.”
‘School of Rock’ was released in 2003, directed by Richard Linklater from a screenplay by White. The film follows Dewey Finn (Black), a struggling musician who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school and forms a rock band with his students. Released by Paramount Pictures, the film grossed $131 million worldwide on a $35 million budget.
Black recently returned to voice Po in ‘Kung Fu Panda 4‘, the fourth installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise and the sequel to Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016). The film was directed by Mike Mitchell. You can check out the VOD release date.
The White Lotus Season 3 has begun filming its third season, set to take place at a hotel chain in Thailand.
