For fans of ‘Joker,’ the film ‘Joker: Folie à Deux‘ has recently been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA). It has received an R rating due to “some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality, and brief full nudity.”
The film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, will debut its first trailer on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, during CinemaCon 2024, by Warner Bros. Pictures. Gaga recently shared the first-look poster, which you can check out below.
The 2019 film ‘Joker’ also had an R rating. Its sequel has a $200 million budget and reportedly leans heavily towards being “mostly a jukebox musical,” as confirmed by Variety. The film will include at least 15 covers of “very well-known” songs.
Directed by Todd Phillips and stars Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, Gaga as Harley Quinn, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. The filming began in December 2022 and finished in April 2023. While filming was underway, leaked images of Gaga in New York City surfaced online. Gaga is playing the role of Dr. Harleen Quinzel (Harley Quinn), a psychiatrist who falls in love with Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) and is also his greatest supporter.
The film is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, Bron Creative, and Joint Effort.
‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ is set to premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in September 2024 before its theatrical release by Warner Bros. Pictures on October 4, 2024.
