Kelsey Grammer, who is reprising his X-Men role as Beast in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, has revealed that Marvel Studios used motion capture instead of practical effects for Beast.
In a recent interview with ET Online, Grammer says that his scenes were filmed using motion capture instead of prosthetics for the character in Avengers: Doomsday.
He said, “We did motion capture for this one. Just because it’s better!”
Grammer revealed that his Beast shares a scene with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Pedro Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic, as well as “sort of shares a scene” with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Grammer spoke about returning to his Marvel role, saying, “To come back as Beast — I don’t know how much I’m allowed to talk about — but it was fun to interact with people I hadn’t acted with before.”
When asked who he was most excited to work with, he said, “You know, Thor. I’m a big fan of Robert Downey Jr. I love him.”
Asked whether they shared a scene, he replied, “It’s sort of sharing a scene. I can’t—I don’t want to go too far. And I really had a great time with the new guy from Fantastic Four. Pedro, yeah… wonderful guy. I really enjoyed hanging out with him. And we worked together… some.”
When asked if they shared a scene, Grammer said, “Yes.”
We reported that there will be a global timer appearing throughout the movie, counting down to the final incursion. The timer will be connected to a device built by Beast, Reed Richards, and Shuri to track when realities begin to collapse.
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
