So, it’s nearly confirmed that Marvel is going ahead with the plans mentioned in last week’s Variety reports, which involve bringing back some of the original Avengers for an upcoming project.
What did Kevin Feige say about the return of Iron Man and Black Widow?
During the premiere of ‘The Marvels’ in Las Vegas, Marvel President Kevin Feige told ET that they’re working on a secret project with Scarlett Johansson at Marvel Studios; this project is separate from Black Widow.
Feige said, “We did not discuss that, and that is the truth.” Feige added, “We’re doing a project with Scarlett. I love Robert, he’s part of the family.”
Feige mentioned that he hasn’t had recent discussions regarding the return of Iron Man and Black Widow, saying, “In terms of [them] returning… we’ll have to see.”
The return of the original six Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Johansson as Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, would make the new Avengers movie even more anticipated and exceeding expectations.
As previously reported, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘ will be a soft reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Earth-1999. It marks the end of the current MCU and the Fox-Verse, setting the stage for a new and distinct MCU.
In The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
Directed by Nia DaCosta, the film also holds the record of being the most expensive movie ever directed by a black woman, surpassing Ava DuVernay’s ‘A Wrinkle In Time’. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Park Seo-joon, Zawe Ashton, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur. The film also brings back Goose, the Flerken.
‘The Marvels’ will hit theaters on November 10, 2023.
