Taron Egerton and Colin Firth are set to return for the third installment of the Kingsman franchise. According to reports, Kingsman 3 will be the final movie, bringing an end to Eggsy and Harry’s story.
Taron Egerton, who plays Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, told Collider that he had an idea for Kingsman 3. During the press tour for the upcoming Tetris, Egerton told Collider’s Steve Weintraub that “I have an idea for Kingsman. I have my own idea that I would like to pitch to Matthew, and I think that will be happening soon, but he has the wheels in motion on a big idea of his own. So who knows, you know? Who knows where it will land?”
The Kingsman franchise’s first film, “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” was released in 2014, and following its success, a sequel, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” was released in 2017 and a prequel, “The King’s Man,” was released in 2021. Both films were released by 20th Century Studios.
The Kingsman is a franchise based on the comic book series “The Secret Service” by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. Matthew Vaughn directs the films “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2014) and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” (2017).
Director Matthew Vaughn previously slated there are big plans for the dynamic between Eggsy and Harry. He said, “Eggsy and Harry [will be in it], obviously. But it’s the gang coming back together and it’s one of those moments that…when we wrote the screenplay, it was very much about, okay, I saw how people loved the relationship of Eggsy and Harry. So we just came up with this thing, what could be the ultimate reason for them to either fall in love or to hate each other forever? So that’s what this movie is all about is will they or won’t they, let’s just say.”
“Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2014) follows the story of Eggsy (Egerton), a young man from a working-class family in London who is recruited by a secret spy organization called Kingsman. Alongside veteran agent Harry Hart (Firth), Eggsy must stop a megalomaniacal billionaire from unleashing a deadly virus that will wipe out most of humanity.
In this sequel, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” (2017), Eggsy is now a full-fledged Kingsman agent. When the Kingsman organization is targeted by a ruthless drug lord, Eggsy and his team join forces with their American counterparts, the Statesman, to save the world from destruction.
Egerton’s upcoming film Tetris will be released on Apple TV+ on March 31. The film is the true story of the high-stakes legal battle to secure intellectual property rights to Tetris, where Egerton plays the role of Henk Rogers. Watch the trailer below.
