The world premiere of ‘Kung Fu Panda 4‘ took place at the AMC 14 Theater at The Grove in Los Angeles on March 3, 2024. Following the premiere, reports on the film have been revealed.
How is ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’?
According to reports, ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ was overall a disappointment. While it remains enjoyable with great action scenes, there is a sense of desperation to introduce new elements while neglecting the development of old characters and their narratives.
The movie is fun, but it feels distinct from the previous three installments, leaving a feeling of something missing. ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ falls short with less focus on the Furious Five, but compensates by highlighting James Hong’s Mr. Ping and Bryan Cranston’s Mr. Li, emerging as beloved father figures.
‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Reviews:
According to Twitter (X) user MaggieMinLA, ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ is a lot of fun! Po is still very funny and adorable. I would never be tired of watching him eat. The new city in this one is beautifully created with so many details and respect for Chinese culture. I was glad to see Po go on this new adventure outside his village.
According to Twitter user Michael Lee, ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ is a fun epilogue following a great trilogy. The story is a bit contrived, but the Jack Black and Awkwafina chemistry is so hilarious and adorable that it overshadows those flaws. Plus, the dynamic action sequences make the animation explode off the screen.
According to Twitter user Tessa Smith, Kung Fu Panda 4′ is a ton of fun! Black is as hilarious and lovable as ever; Awkwafina is a wonderful addition; and the two of them together are fantastic! Stunning animation and incredible action sequences, plus a worthy story that sets up for more.
After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior (Black), is called upon by destiny to … give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. That poses a couple of obvious problems. First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position. Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Viola Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small. And Chameleon has her greedy, beady little eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm.
So, Po’s going to need some help. He finds it (kinda?) in the form of crafty, quick-witted thief Zhen (Awkwafina), a corsac fox who really gets under Po’s fur but whose skills will prove invaluable. In their quest to protect the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s reptilian claws, this comedic odd-couple duo will have to work together. In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is directed by Mike Mitchell and produced by Rebecca Huntley. The film features the voice talent of returning stars Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master, Shifu; James Hong as Po’s adoptive father, Mr. Ping; Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father, Li, and Emmy Award nominee Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and arch-nemesis. Ke Huy Quan joins the ensemble as a new character, Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves.
‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ hits theaters on March 8, 2024.
