Note: This post contains spoilers for the upcoming Tangled movie.
The filming for Disney’s live-action Tangled, starring Teagan Croft, Milo Manheim, Kathryn Hahn, and Diego Luna, has wrapped at Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante, Spain, as confirmed by screenwriter Michael Montemayor.
On Threads, Montemayor shared photos from the wrap celebration, including an image of Hahn’s script for an iconic scene in which her character meets a gruesome end. But fans noticed that the dialogue was different from the 2010 animated movie.
Mother Gothel Shows a Glimpse of Love in New Tangled Death Scene

In the updated scene, Mother Gothel (Hahn) stabs Flynn Rider (Manheim) to keep him away from Rapunzel (Croft), who then pulls out the dagger. Rapunzel still uses the original healing incantation in an attempt to save Flynn. He eventually uses the dagger to cut her hair, triggering Gothel’s rapid aging. But as she begins to age, Gothel delivers a new line: “I loved you”—a moment of tenderness absent from the 2010 animated movie.
The first look at Tangled was shown to attendees at the D23 2026 fan event, Disney’s official expo, in Anaheim, California. Below, you can watch the footage.
Disney’s princess movie journey began in 1937 with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film became a classic and helped make Disney a leading name in animated fairy tales. Since then, the studio has released favorites like Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. Now, Disney is bringing many of these stories to life again.
Directed by Michael Gracey and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor, Disney’s Tangled brings the beloved 2010 animated film to life. The original animated movie was loosely adapted from the Brothers Grimm’s 1812 fairy tale Rapunzel.
The cast of Tangled includes Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Chandler Raye as young Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel, Diego Luna as Hawthorne, Caitríona Balfe as Queen Arianna, Elliot Cowan as King Frederic, and Patrick and Hugo McPherson as the Stabbington Brothers.
“The magically long-haired Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her, she is about to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is.”
The film is produced by Kristin Burr under Burr! Productions, with Lucy Kitada executive producing. Disney Live Action’s EVP of Production, Jessica Virtue, is overseeing the project.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will release Tangled in theaters on March 31, 2028.
