Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is targeting a Christmas 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as confirmed by Khary Payton, the voice of Black Panther.
Directed by Amy Hennig, creator of Uncharted, and developed by Skydance New Media in partnership with Marvel Games, this action-adventure game features an original story.
In the game, Black Panther and Captain America team up, forming an uneasy alliance to battle Hydra. Players will set out on a WWII-era adventure with four playable heroes, each taking the spotlight at different points in the story.
In an interview with The Direct at MultiCon in Los Angeles, California, Payton revealed a release window for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra before an official announcement.
Payton said, “We’re still working. We’re planning on 2025… We’re thinking like a Christmas situation. But I’m so excited.”
In Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, players will meet the game’s main characters:
- Khary Payton as Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther.
- Drew Moerlein as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America.
- Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali, a Wakandan spy in Occupied Paris.
- Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos.
- Lyne Renée as Julie, a key ally in the French Resistance.
- Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark.
What is the Plot of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra?
In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra.
Also, Grammy® Award-winning composer Stephen Barton provides original music for the story trailer. The game will feature Barton’s original score, known for his work in film, television, and games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Trek Picard, Apex Legends, Titanfall, and 12 Monkeys.
