Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts‘ is scheduled to start filming in March or April 2024, as confirmed by Wyatt Russell in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Marvel Eyes R-Rating for ‘Thunderbolts’ Amidst Mature Project Success
Marvel Studios is considering an R-rating for ‘Thunderbolts,’ depending on the success of mature projects like ‘Echo‘ and ‘Deadpool 3.’ Other confirmed R-rated projects include ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ ‘Blade,’ and ‘Marvel Zombies.’
As per The Cosmic Circus, ‘Thunderbolts’ is set to play a role in an arc that could potentially pave the way for a future ‘World War Hulk‘ project.
Directed by Jake Schreier from a script written by Lee Sung Jin and Eric Pearson. Produced by Kevin Feige, Brian Chapek, Matthew Jenkins, and David J. Grant.
Schreier has already confirmed that the ‘Thunderbolts’ will consist of individuals who share a common history of past trauma.
‘Thunderbolts’ stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Sadie Sink as Songbird, Ayo Edebiri in an unspecified role, and Yeun.
Steven Yeun is set to play Sentry in the MCU and will appear in ‘Thunderbolts.’ In the film, The Void, associated with Robert “Bob” Reynolds‘ negative aspects, transforms into a realm that characters can enter in the third act. This deviation from Sentry’s character aligns with inspiration from the comics.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Russell said, “There’s so much to play with John, and there’s so much more to do with John. I’m so lucky to get to work with the kind of talent that I’m going to work with when Thunderbolts starts up in March or April.” Russell added, “It just feels like we’re going for something that has depth and something interesting to theorize about beyond just flying around and doing superhero stuff.”
