Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a project called ‘Children of the Vault,’ as confirmed by insider @DanielRPK.
The project is in early development, with no official announcement from Marvel yet. According to reports, it will be a series focusing on the supervillain group ‘Children of the Vault.’ Unlike mutants, these characters are enhanced and seek the extinction of both humans and mutants.
Who are the ‘Children of the Vault’?
Created by Mike Carey and Chris Bachalo, the Children of the Vault first appeared in X-MEN (2004) #188. The Children of the Vault are the product of scientific experimentation, specifically with temporal acceleration. To preserve the future of life on Earth in the wake of any catastrophic event that might wipe out humans and mutants, scientists created a special vault on a Chilean tanker called the Conquistador. After the disaster, these people were meant to emerge from the Conquistador and repopulate Earth.
Those inside this vault underwent time acceleration, which means that time passed significantly faster inside than outside. This time-lapse resulted in genetic drift that made them no longer entirely human, even though they don’t have X-Genes like mutants. As a result of this temporal acceleration, the Children of the Vault—as they came to be known—advanced significantly technologically and genetically. They also developed abilities equivocal to some of the most powerful heroes and villains on Earth. (Via Marvel)
Wolverine, Synch, and Darwin got stuck in the Vault for 500+ years. The Children of the Vault captured Darwin, studied his power, and created a stronger fourth generation. In a simulation, the Children proved they could beat the X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, and even major villains if set free.
The main Children – Sangre, Serafina, Perro, Fuego, and Aguja – keep upgrading to more advanced versions. Their powers are extreme, but the details are not fully known.
The release date for the ‘Children of the Vault’ series is yet to be announced (TBA).
