Marvel Studios‘ upcoming project will be based on the Young Avengers, with a film of the same name soon to be announced, as hinted in the post-credits scene of ‘The Marvels‘. The film will feature Hulkling.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X (Twitter), Marvel reportedly wants Kit Connor (‘Heartstopper‘, ‘Rocketman‘) to play Hulkling in the MCU.
Following the reveal, Alex P. from The Cosmic Circus on X confirmed Connor’s MCU role rumors, stating, “So, yes. I thought it was slightly stereotypical because of Heartstopper, but you gotta admit it would be a plausible option.”
Back in 2023, Miles Gutierrez-Riley was – we almost confirmed for the Hulkling role and set up to introduce in the Marvel/Disney+ ‘Agatha All Along‘ series. But unfortunately, the idea was scrapped, and Gutierrez-Riley is no longer attached to the role. The role required a gay actor 18–20. Hulkling is “a kind soul” with a “great sense of humor,” totally in love with his boyfriend, and has an athletic build.
Who is Hulkling in Marvel?
Hulkling in Marvel Comics is a half-Skrull hybrid with shape-shifting abilities, part of the Young Avengers team. His real name is Theodore Altman, and he possesses superhuman strength and other powers. The character’s origin is rooted in the Young Avengers comics. His mother, Anelle, was a Kree princess and former lover of Mar-Vell. She fell in love with the Skrull commander Dorrek VIII, who later became the Skrull Emperor. Anelle died giving birth to Hulkling, who was then raised by his adoptive father, Lisa Altman, a Skrull sent to protect him.
Connor is best known for starring as secondary school student Nick Nelson in the Netflix teen series Heartstopper (2022–present). He also appeared in films such as Santa (2014), Rocketman (2019), and Little Joe (2019). Additionally, he had a recurring role in the series Rocket’s Island (2014–2015) and a voice role in the series His Dark Materials (2019–2022).
