(FYI: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.)
Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday will feature a major role for Lewis Pullman‘s Bob Reynolds/Sentry, as he becomes uncontrollable when the Sentry takes over Bob, similar to what we saw in Thunderbolts* (The New Avengers).
According to an insider who previously leaked major plot details of Avengers: Doomsday, Pullman’s Bob cannot use his powers without the Void taking control of his body. This leaves him more fearful and insecure, even though he is currently the strongest Hero/Avenger alive — and the Avengers need him for this new threat.
In Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom uses his fragility and fear to create chaos among heroes. He will be pretending to help, manipulating them into fragile puppets before revealing himself as the true villain.

The insider claims, “From previs, techvis, and postvis I’ve seen involving the Sentry, it seems a heavy trigger in Bob will cause the (Monster) Void to take over, not like in Thunderbolts*; we’re talking about the Creature Void, and Professor X (Charles Xavier) attempts to use his telepathic powers to end the Void once and for all, preventing Bob/Void from killing all the heroes.”

We already reported that Bob’s past with his mother, Annie Reynolds, will be explored through emotional flashbacks when Charles Xavier uses his telepathic powers. However, Pullman’s Sentry is very important to the story.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Pullman opened up about his return as Sentry in Avengers: Doomsday, saying that Bob could be either useful or dangerous to the teams.
Pullman said, “The Thunderbolts don’t want to let him out of their sight because they realize that if he’s caught in the wrong hands, or if he’s not being supported enough by the right people, he might be dangerous. But they also want to keep him close in case they can figure out a way to use him. He’s a very good asset. It’s a hard situation they’re in. With all the other characters that are going to be in Avengers: Doomsday, there will be so many opportunities to figure out how each might come into play—and how Bob might come into play with any of them.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
