Thunderbolts is a sequel to Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Captain America: New World Order, and is part of the MCU’s Phase Five. The film is set to be released on July 26, 2024.
According to Variety, Thunderbolts will begin filming in June 2023. The update was revealed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Louis-Dreyfus most recently appeared in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where she was promoted to Director of the CIA. Speaking to Variety, Louis-Dreyfus said, “I actually pitched it.” She added, “I told them I really, really want to fight. We’ll see if that happens. I haven’t seen the script yet.”
According to reports, the filming is set to film in Washington D.C. in June. At a press conference hosted by Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), OCTFME Director LaToya Foster teased the filming. “We have Marvel coming to Washington D.C.,” Foster said. “I can’t give you too much about that but let me tell you, we’re going to have a huge Marvel film taking place right downtown that you won’t want to miss out on.”
Thunderbolts is the story of a “rag-tag bunch” of unincorporated superheroes, according to Marvel CEO Kevin Feige.
