Marvel Television’s VisionQuest series is releasing in a month and marks the end of the WandaVision trilogy. The series centers on White Vision’s journey to regain his identity following the events of WandaVision.
The series features Ultron, who is seeking a way to take over Vision’s mind and obtain a body to enter the outside world. The story of the first android, Jim Hammond, will also be told, along with how his body was repurposed by Ultron to create Vision. A clip from Avengers: Age of Ultron will reportedly be shown.
Here are the plot details for VisionQuest:
Vision believes that Wanda Maximoff is dead at the beginning of the series and cannot find her. Vision interacts with the classic AIs (J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., K.A.R.E.N., and E.D.I.T.H.) manifested as human avatars. Pepper Potts assists Vision at Stark Industries, and an image of Tony and Morgan is shown. Vision meets and receives help from scientists Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons at S.W.O.R.D.
A remnant of Ultron is accidentally awakened. Ultron manifests in human form and pretends to be an ally of Vision.
Vision creates a new synthetic entity named Jocasta using his own neural patterns and Wanda’s memories. Jocasta has an appearance reminiscent of Wanda.
Jocasta’s code is dangerously contaminated with traces of Ultron. Vision falls in love with Jocasta as he teaches her about the human soul.
Vision’s quiet life comes to an end when Paladin is hired to capture him. During his escape, Vision meets Thomas Shepherd, a young man who claims to be his reincarnated son, Tommy. They flee together and end up in Madripoor, now under Sharon Carter’s control. Vision must then fight to survive, resist Ultron, and discover who Thomas really is.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Ruaridh Mollica explained Tommy Maximoff’s identity in VisionQuest and how the character is connected to Thomas Shepherd. Mollica says the character is more Thomas Shepherd than Tommy Maximoff, with Tommy becoming part of Thomas as the story develops. Thomas is described as a young grifter who grew up as an orphan in London and was unaware of who he would eventually become.
Mollica said, “Tommy is more Thomas Shepherd and Tommy Maximoff. My main essence, I guess, is Thomas Shepherd, who’s this young grifter, grown up as an orphan in London. Tommy Maximoff becomes part of Thomas, so a lot of Thomas’ life, he wasn’t even aware of who he’d then become.”
“Tommy’s kind of grown up unable to accept his family, in a way. So when this Tommy Maximoff side of him is discovered, it’s not easily accepted.”
“Also, it’s not widely accepted by the real world. He doesn’t really know Vision; it’s all a delusion, he’s just some random kid who sees Vision’s face sometimes.”

“When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
The cast of VisionQuest includes Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff/Speed and Thomas Shepherd, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. Faran Tahir also reprises his role as Raza, with Cristian Lavin and Mary McDonnell appearing in undisclosed roles.
