Director Matthew Vaughn revealed the titles of two upcoming films in the ‘Kingsman‘ franchise at the New York Comic Con. ‘Kingsman 3‘ is now officially named ‘Kingsman: The Blue Blood,’ continuing the saga from ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service‘ and ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle.’ Meanwhile, ‘Kingsman: The Traitor King‘ is confirmed as the sequel to ‘The King’s Man,’ adding more excitement to the expanding world of the ‘Kingsman’ series.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant at New York Comic Con, Vaughn teased that something big will bring Harry and Eggsy back together in ‘Kingsman: The Blue Blood.’ He also talked about Eggsy’s character growth and his evolving role as the Kingsman.
Vaughn said, “Yes, yes. Imagine if that purpose disappears, is all I’ll say. Yeah, the two of them need each other one more time.”
Vaughn previously slated there are big plans for the dynamic between Eggsy and Harry. He said, “Eggsy and Harry [will be in it], obviously. But it’s the gang coming back together and it’s one of those moments that…when we wrote the screenplay, it was very much about, okay, I saw how people loved the relationship of Eggsy and Harry. So we just came up with this thing, what could be the ultimate reason for them to either fall in love or to hate each other forever? So that’s what this movie is all about is will they or won’t they, let’s just say.”
Vaughn will return to direct the third installment of the Kingsman franchise, and production is scheduled to start by the end of 2023 after the SAG strike ends. Taron Egerton and Colin Firth will reprise their roles as Eggsy and Harry for the final installment, concluding their characters’ story.
Recently, Egerton told Collider that he had an idea for Kingsman 3. During the press tour for the upcoming Tetris, Egerton told Collider’s Steve Weintraub “I have an idea for Kingsman. I have my own idea that I would like to pitch to Matthew, and I think that will be happening soon, but he has the wheels in motion on a big idea of his own. So who knows, you know? Who knows where it will land?”
‘Kingsman: The Blue Blood’ will start filming by late 2023 and is set to release in early 2025.
