The exclusive footage from Max’s ‘The Penguin‘ series was recently screened at a press event. Journalist @rendy_jones, who had the opportunity to view the footage, described it as “a classic noir.“
He said, “The Penguin looks so fu***** rad. like a classic noir and Farrell getting to shine while Cristin Milioti looks like a terrifying big bad in Sofia Falcone.”
‘The Penguin’ series revolves around the rise to power of Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot/Penguin (played by Colin Farrell) in Gotham City’s criminal underworld. Produced by 6th & Idaho, DC Studios, and Dylan Clark Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television Studios, the series is led by showrunner Lauren LeFranc. (See set images).
The Batverse, created by Matt Reeves, is now officially recognized as an “epic crime saga” on Warner Brothers’ Max Streaming platform. According to Deadline, the filming for ‘The Penguin’ series has temporarily halted due to the ongoing WGA strike and will continue to remain on pause until the strike ends.
The series also stars Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Theo Rossi, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, and David H. Holmes. The show was rated TV-MA. It also confirms the genres as “crime and drama.”
The series will have eight episodes, written by Lauren LeFranc, with the first three episodes directed by Craig Zobel, and will premiere on Max in 2024.
