New plot details for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, which is now in production, have been revealed. The film will feature an X-Men universe where a team of Avengers already exists.
According to an insider on X (formerly Twitter), in Avengers: Doomsday, a team of Avengers already exists in the X-Men universe — they are variants of the heroes we know.
Four characters are reportedly part of this new Avengers lineup: a variant of Iron Man, a variant of Black Panther, Binary (Maria Rambeau), and Hank Pym, who will be known as Giant in this universe.
Following the report, Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello also confirmed that there will be two Black Panthers in Avengers: Doomsday. Letitia Wright is the current Black Panther in the MCU’s Earth-616, and the next Black Panther will be from another universe.
There is a possibility that Robert Downey Jr. might play an alternate version of Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. In this version, Doctor Doom secretly causes a conflict between the Avengers and the X-Men. He uses the Avengers to go against the Mutants in order to weaken both teams. His real plan is to reach a powerful energy source that could help him restore his own destroyed universe.
Directed by Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator, Stephen McFeely. Newton Thomas Sigel will be the cinematographer.
Marvel announced the official cast members of the film: Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
During the CinemaCon 2025, Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that Avengers: Doomsday will focus on the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, the New Avengers (Thunderbolts), and the original X-Men all uniting to fight Doctor Doom (Downey Jr.).
