It’s time to celebrate the anniversary of The Engineer, and DC boss James Gunn has something special for the fans. Gunn shared a new BTS image of María Gabriela de Faría‘s The Engineer from the Superman movie.
On X (formerly Twitter), Gunn shared the BTS look at Gabriela de Faría’s The Engineer and wrote, “Happy anniversary to The Engineer, created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, who you can see played to sinister perfection by puppy-in-human-form Gaby de Faría in Superman this July!” See the image below.
In the image, The Engineer appears to be standing her ground at LordTech Field. It seems she had a big battle with Superman, and he put her down. During filming, some leaked set images already showed Superman fighting The Engineer.
Who is the The Engineer in DC Comics?
In DC Comics, The Engineer—originally named Angela Spica—is a member of The Authority, a team of super-powered antiheroes. She has nanotechnology-infused blood, allowing her to create advanced weaponry, reshape her body, and interface with machines.
From the recent test screening of the Superman movie, reports confirmed that the 2025 summer blockbuster is incoming. The film reportedly has a tone closer to DC’s Wonder Woman and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The film is written and directed by Gunn and is the first film of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Gunn also produced the film with Peter Safran under DC Studios.
