Note: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
A five‑minute opening footage from Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released.

The footage shows Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) in the opening sequence, fighting Red Ghost’s Super‑Ape and using his stretching powers to kick the creature. Watch the clip below.
The shots of Reed using his abilities look incredible and natural, as Marvel has tried to portray Mister Fantastic’s body as truly made of elastic. With the use of CGI, Marvel has delivered a depiction of Reed’s powers that is very close to the comics.
The clip also reveals a montage of the Fantastic Four team using their powers. There is a scene where Joseph Quinn‘s Johnny Storm absorbs all the fire from fully burning buildings, which looks impressive and cool.

In a recent interview with Variety, Pascal addressed the backlash over his casting as Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Pascal admitted he is more aware of the controversy surrounding this role than with any other project he has done. He also appears to be closely tuned in to fan discussions and reactions—perhaps even more than many media outlets covering the film.
Pascal said, “I’m more aware of disgruntlement around my casting than anything I’ve ever done,” and remarked, “He’s too old. He’s not right. He needs to shave.”
Here’s the plot details for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Quinn) — as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god named Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, things suddenly get very personal.
The film also stars Walter Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters and IMAX on July 25, 2025.
