Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is moving forward with a new script, and the original franchise characters are returning.
According to insider Daniel Richtman in a post on his Patreon, Jeff Nathanson is reportedly still working on the current draft of Pirates of the Caribbean 6. He previously worked on The Lion King, Young Woman and the Sea, and The Terminal.

Recently, The DisInsider reported that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will bring back Orlando Bloom‘s Will Turner, Keira Knightley‘s Elizabeth Swann, and Johnny Depp‘s Captain Jack Sparrow (in a reduced role). The movie will chart a new course with fresh characters.
As of now, no director has been hired, but an official announcement is expected at Disney’s D23 Expo.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will feature some actors from the original films returning to the franchise, though he didn’t reveal who.
Bruckheimer shared that the sixth installment will be a “new take,” not a complete reboot. While new characters may be introduced, it won’t feature an entirely new cast. He declined to name the returning cast members, teasing, “You’ll have to guess.”
Bruckheimer also told that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will not directly continue the plot of Dead Men Tell No Tales, but the sixth film will still take place in the same oceanic world.
Depp starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, which grossed over $4.5 billion at the global box office.
