Warning: This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Fans have been asking why Captain Marvel is missing from the upcoming Avengers movies, but Marvel Studios has not provided any official update on her appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. It has been reported that Brie Larson filmed footage as Captain Marvel for Avengers: Doomsday last year. As of now, her role is reportedly limited to a cameo.
According to insider James Mack, Captain Marvel appeared in early concept art and pre-visualization for Avengers: Doomsday. Her original storyline reportedly took her to the X-Men universe alongside the Avengers.

Carol Danvers’ mission was reportedly to rescue Monica Rambeau from the X-Men universe. She was also expected to battle Binary, the variant introduced in the post-credits scene of The Marvels. However, this entire storyline was reportedly scrapped, along with several other early ideas, including a larger Avengers vs. X-Men battle featuring more mutant characters.
“As time passed and filming continued, it seems that this entire storyline was scrapped, along with several other ideas I saw. For example, the Avengers vs. X-Men battle originally featured many more mutants, but the final cut did not.”
The reshoots for Avengers: Doomsday reportedly cut certain ideas that the Russo Brothers felt were “too over-the-top.”
Captain Marvel May Have a Small Doomsday Role, but a Big Secret Wars Future

According to the report, both Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau now have much smaller roles in Avengers: Doomsday. Captain Marvel is reportedly limited to a cameo, with her scene having been filmed last year.
Despite her reduced role in Doomsday, Captain Marvel is still expected to take on a major leadership role in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Avengers: Doomsday Reshoots Reportedly Added More Loki and TVA Scenes
The planned storyline involving a conflict between the New Avengers and Sam Wilson’s Avengers has reportedly been scrapped from Avengers: Doomsday. Instead, both teams are said to come together at the Watchtower to resolve their differences.
Additional scenes involving Loki and the TVA were also reportedly filmed for Avengers: Doomsday, along with an unannounced actor.
Originally, the film featured only a few TVA scenes, suggesting that more material has since been added.
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.
