Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has officially wrapped filming and entered the post-production stage, as confirmed by director Jeff Fowler, who has helmed all four movies in the franchise.
Production began on March 2, 2026, with Fowler sharing a photo of himself holding Amy’s hammer. After a 74-day shoot, filming officially wrapped on May 15.
On X, Jeff Fowler shared a set photo of himself alongside the hedgehog’s robotic doppelgänger, Metal Sonic, as a stand-in character. He wrote, “And that’s a wrap on #SonicMovie4!!!” See the post below.

At CinemaCon this year, Paramount Pictures showed attendees an exclusive preview of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, featuring a brief look at Kristen Bell as Amy Rose and the return of Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik, who is now “on a mission to save the world.”
Heroes Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles go on their biggest adventure yet as Dr. Robotnik unleashes his greatest creation, Metal Sonic, but it’s not the only one. With newcomer Amy Rose, they embark on an epic journey to save the future.

The cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 includes Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog, Kristen Bell as Amy Rose, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Miles “Tails” Prower, Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog.
The live-action cast features Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone.
Additionally, Ben Kingsley, Nick Offerman, Matt Berry, and Richard Ayoade will appear in undisclosed roles.
Directed by Jeff Fowler from a screenplay by Pat Casey, John Whittington, and Josh Miller. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Films and Toru Nakahara return as producers.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will hit theaters on March 19, 2027, by Paramount Pictures.
