New set images of Nicolas Cage on the set of Amazon’s Spider-Noir have leaked online, with filming currently taking place in Los Angeles.
In the images, Cage was spotted on set, inadvertently revealing the show’s main villain. He was holding a copy of the Daily Bugle, which showcased a headline that reads, ‘Silvermane Survives in Skivvies,’ giving a clue to the storyline.
It has already been reported that Silvermane and Yuri Watanabe will be appearing in the show.
The recent set images from day one of filming show Cage, who plays Ben Reilly, appear to be knocked over by some force.
Here’s the official synopsis for Spider-Noir:
In Spider-Noir, “We follow Ben Reilly (Cage), a private investigator, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero. Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, which leads him to discover that the Mayor is up to something nefarious that involves crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.”
Oren Uziel (‘22 Jump Street’) and Steve Lightfoot (‘The Punisher’) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers for Spider-Noir. They developed the series with the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom also executive produce. Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes, with Pascal executive producing via Pascal Pictures.
The show also stars Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Whitney Rice, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, Amanda Schull, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Scoot MacArthur, Michael Kostroff, Joe Massingill, and Cary Christopher.
In a recent interview with Variety, Gleeson said, “It was brief because it was just at a reading, but it was nice because it was enough to say ‘Yeah, that’s exactly who I thought it’d be.’ He’s great, he’s really great, and I can’t wait to get going. I’ve shot one thing and it wasn’t a scene with him yet, but that’s all to come so I’m looking forward to it. I think of [my character] as more of a philosopher, he has kind of a drone-eye view of things, but he can be equally dangerous.”
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Lord and Miller currently under an overall deal at Sony.
Spider-Noir will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then stream globally on Amazon Prime Video.
