James Gunn has shared the first behind-the-scenes featurette for Peacemaker Season 2, following the Peacemaker panel at CCXP. Watch it below.
In Season 2, a major fight is set to take place between Frank Grillo‘s Rick Flag Sr. and John Cena’s Peacemaker. The behind-the-scenes featurette also reveals several surprises, including:
- White Dragon’s new costume
- First look at Peacemaker’s brother
- A closer look at Peacemaker’s alternate suit and bike
- New characters, including potential Martians
Multiple dead characters from Season 1 return, arriving through Peacemaker’s pocket universe. The 11th Street Kidz will face several challenges in Season 2—Adebayo’s exposure of Waller puts their jobs at risk, Peacemaker is in love with Emilia Harcourt, and while they long to be recognized as heroes, they remain societal outcasts.
Season 2 shows that Peacemaker’s brother is also alive in another universe. It appears this character is an adult Keith Smith, who never died as a child in the alternate universe.
The show is set in the DC Universe (DCU) and serves as a “soft reboot” of the series, which originated as a spin-off from the 2021 DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film—The Suicide Squad. It is produced by DC Studios with Gunn as the showrunner.
Returning for Peacemaker Season 2 are Cena as Christopher Smith / Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Robert Patrick as August “Auggie” Smith / White Dragon, Nhut Le as Judomaster, and Eagly as Peacemaker’s pet bald eagle. New cast members include Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, along with David Denman, Anissa Matlock, Taylor St. Clair, Dorian Kingi, and Brandon Stanley in undisclosed roles. Also, Peacemaker’s pet bald eagle, Eagly, also returns for Season 2.
Peacemaker Season 2 will consist of eight episodes and is set to premiere on HBO Max on August 21, 2025.
