Waller-Bridge has starred in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”, which premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival and received mixed reviews from critics. According to the review, the film fails to recapture Spielberg’s magic. With uninspired action and conflicting themes and character motivations, it’s proof that some things should just be allowed to end.
Directed by James Mangold and co-written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and David Koepp. The film stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, John Rhys-Davies as Sallah, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.
In the film, Waller-Bridge plays the role of Helena Shaw, Indiana Jones’ goddaughter. The filmmakers described the character as a “slippery, charming, the girl next door, a grifter”, a “pioneer in ethical accounting,” and similar to comedic characters with “machine-gun” dialogue akin to those of Ben Hecht’s plays.
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
