Polygon Pictures, the renowned Japanese anime studio known for its expertise in 3D computer graphics (CG) animation, will animate “Spider-Man: Freshman Year.” Their previous works include “Knights of Sidonia,” “Ajin: Demi-Human,” “Blame!,” the “Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters” trilogy, “Levius,” and “Drifting Dragons.”
“Spider-Man: Freshman Year” is created by Jeff Trammell for Disney+. It is the twenty-fifth television series and the third animated series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios announced the show during San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
It is reported that “Spider-Man: Freshman Year” is not taking place on Earth-616. The plot follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.
The voice cast for Peter Parker/Spider-Man is not yet confirmed. As of now, the confirmed cast is Paul F. Tompkins as Bentley Wittman and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. The confirmed characters are May Parker, Nico Minoru, Amadeus Cho, Harry Osborn, Pearl Pangan, Jean Foucault, Norman Osborn, Milos Masaryk/Unicorn, Dimitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon, Lonnie Lincoln, Mac Gargan/Scorpion, James Sanders/Speed Demon, Maria Vasquez/Tarantula, Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino, Butane, Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange, and Butane.
The series is produced by Marvel Studios. It was also announced that a sequel series titled “Spider-Man: Sophomore Year” was in development.
“Spider-Man: Freshman Year” will premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
