Spider-Man: Freshman Year Will Not Be a Part of Earth-616

Marvel Studios announced Spider-Man: Freshman Year release date during the San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Spider-Man: Freshman Year has been confirmed to not be taking place on Earth-616. The animated series follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.

The voice cast for Peter Parker/Spider-Man is not yet confirmed. As of now, the confirmed cast is Paul F. Tompkins as Bentley Wittman and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. It was also announced that a sequel series titled Spider-Man: Sophomore Year was in development

Speaking to Comicbook.com, The show’s executive producer Brad Winderbaum told “It follows the pattern that you see in [Captain America:] Civil War,” Winderbaum started. “Down to Peter getting the broken Blu-ray player from the trash, and he walks into his department for the famous moment where Tony Stark is waiting for him to offer him the Stark internship and take him to Berlin.”

“But because of things that happen in the Multiverse [and] because of new, random occurrences, it’s not Tony Stark who’s waiting for him there,” he continued. “It’s Norman Osborn, and that sends his life in an unexpected trajectory that collides him with many unexpected characters in the Marvel Universe.”
