James Gunn has made perfect casting choices for the upcoming Superman movie, but Rachel Brosnahan stands out as very special. She will be playing the role of Lois Lane in the film. Brosnahan delivers the best live-action Lois Lane we’ve ever had, says an insider.
According to insider @ThwipT_ on X, “Brosnahan gives a standout performance as Lois Lane in Superman, possibly making herself the best iteration of that character.”
In an interview, Brosnahan discussed playing Lois Lane in Superman. She said, “I’ve always been inspired by this character. She is somebody who is ambitious, courageous, hungry, and determined to get the greatest stories—almost at any cost.”
Brosnahan added, “I’ve always loved this character and was so excited to have the opportunity to bring all of those qualities that have been true of her in every iteration. But one of the things I love about this character, almost more than any other character in comics, is that she evolves to fit what it would mean to be an intrepid journalist in each generation and each decade she’s presented in. I think our challenge is figuring out how she might fit into the canon today.”
Brosnahan continued, “Today, we are living in a world where print journalism, to some, is perhaps an endangered art form, and she is someone who has dedicated her entire life to it. I love that she’s somebody who doesn’t know what the word ‘no’ means, and that motivates her.”
The first trailer received a tremendous response from fans and became one of the most-watched Warner Bros. and DC trailers ever within its first 24 hours. Additionally, Gunn will reveal a special sneak preview of Superman on February 9, 2025, during The Puppy Bowl XXI.
The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The film is written and directed by Gunn and is the first film of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Gunn also produced the film with Peter Safran under DC Studios.
