Speaking to Deadline, Zegler teases her Shazam! Fury of the Gods character, Anthea, her excitement for being a part of the DC Universe, and what the future holds under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership.
Rachel Zegler explains to THR, why she decided to join Shazam! movie and says she made some of her best friends on set. She said, “I needed a job. I’m being so serious.” She added that she wasn’t working due to the coronavirus pandemic and couldn’t land a job as West Side Story hadn’t come out yet, so she was “really excited” when Fury of the Gods came her way. “I’m so lucky that I got this job,” concluded Zegler. “I made some of my best friends on this job and I just absolutely adore this movie, too, so I’m excited.”
Shazam! Fury of the Gods synopsis follows, “Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.”
Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
