Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are now on Nintendo Switch and PS4 (works on PS5 too). Buy both digitally for $49.99 on Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store, with a physical version out on October 13.
Optimized Experience: Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare on Nintendo Switch and PS4
They’re optimized for Switch and PS4, running at 30 FPS, up to 1080p on Switch and PS4, up to 4K on PS4 Pro, and full 4K on PS5 (via backward compatibility).
They include bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition like classic weapons and outfits. Red Dead Redemption also has Hardcore mode, Trophy support on PS4, and in-game achievements on Switch. New languages are supported too: Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Latin American Spanish, along with existing languages.
With over 170 Game of the Year Awards, Red Dead Redemption is a renowned game. Follow former outlaw John Marston’s journey across the American West and Mexico to save his family from the Van der Linde Gang. Experience the events after Red Dead Redemption 2. It features an acclaimed score and soundtrack, including “Far Away” by José González, available on Apple Music and Spotify.
Originally launched in 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3, Red Dead Redemption gained immense popularity and a lasting legacy. The rumors of a remastered version had been around for some time, and now Rockstar has officially announced ports for the Nintendo Switch and PS4.
The Nintendo Switch version offers the full game experience on the go, including the base game, Game of the Year content, and Undead Nightmare DLC. The graphics hold up well despite the game’s age, with slight aliasing in certain places. Handheld mode provides a better experience due to its clarity compared to docked mode. The digital download size is 11.4GB, larger than the Xbox due to extra content.
Red Dead Redemption’s Switch UI is improved from the original Xbox 360 version, with a crisper HUD, map, and menus. Note that I used the base Switch; it might be better on the OLED model. No major performance or bug issues during play. Unlike GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, skepticism exists due to recent backlash.
