Shannon Berry has been reportedly cast as Abby Anderson in HBO’s ‘The Last of Us‘ season 2. However, production delays continue due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The release is currently aimed at 2025.
According to showrunner Craig Mazin, Abby appears to have been cast for ‘The Last of Us’ season 2. Mazin said, “Look, Abby was the first role that we wanted to tackle. We’ve got a pretty good track record of making major cast announcements and people going “Really?” which will probably continue. So people may disagree, but I think we got it right so far and the audience seems to feel we got it right and the Academy seems to feel we got it right.” As per a Twitter/X post from trusted scooper, MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH) confirmed Berry has been cast.
Reportedly, the budget for ‘The Last of Us’ season 2 will surpass that of season 1. The storyline will span multiple seasons and feature a greater number of infected compared to season 1. Expect deviations from the source material of ‘The Last of Us Part 2’.
Shannon Berry is known for her role as Dot Campbell in Prime Video’s series ‘The Wilds.’ She’s appeared in shows like ‘Offspring’ and ‘Hunters,’ as well as the film ‘The Gateway.’ Berry’s notable role is in ‘The Wilds,’ a desert island drama that aired for two seasons from 2020 to 2022. She’s also been cast in the movie ‘Winner’ directed by Susanna Fogel, and has a unique role in the independent film ‘Slant.’
Mazin confirms that ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 will be divided into two seasons. He said, “The show won’t conclude with Season 2 unless viewers don’t watch it and it gets canceled.“
Mazin said, “We know what the whole season is, and I was actually able to get a write and submit the first episode right before the deadline hit.” Mazin added, “So now I’m just walking around, kind of brain-writing, I guess, which I don’t think is scabbing. I take walks and I think through the scenes because when the bell rings and this is over because the companies have finally come to their senses, I’m going to have to basically shoot myself out of a cannon because we really want to try and get this show on the air when it’s supposed to be on the air.”
Season 2 stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and more cast members to be revealed soon.
Who is Abby Anderson in The Last of Us Part II?
In ‘The Last of Us Part II,’ Abby Anderson is a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a faction that arose in the post-apocalyptic world following a devastating fungal infection. This infection led to the emergence of hostile creatures known as “infected.” Abby’s father, who was a doctor, was killed by Joel Miller, the main character from the first game. This act was performed to save Ellie, another significant character who possesses immunity to the infection.
