(NOTE: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.)
A new rumor reveals Doctor Strange’s role in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday. The movie introduces the Black Priests, a secret group created to deal with the Incursions, events where two universes collide and are destroyed. They are neither heroes nor villains, but cosmic enforcers.
According to scooper MAJESTIC, Avengers: Doomsday reveals that the Incursions never had a real solution. The Black Priests exist to destroy universes and buy time, not to save the multiverse.

Doctor Strange joined them because he was the first to accept this truth. Someone had to take the blame and make impossible choices while others continued to believe in heroic endings.
Clea is aware of the Black Priests. It is revealed that the Incursions could never be stopped. The Black Priests were only buying time, and Doctor Strange knew this and chose Doctor Doom as his successor.
We previously reported that Doctor Strange will join Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in his plan to save the multiverse from incursions.
In Doomsday, Doctor Strange becomes convinced that the Avengers are incapable of stopping the multiversal collapse. Doctor Doom offers him a plan and total control over magic, and Strange becomes his right-hand man. He serves as the executor of Doom’s plan, manipulating incursions and controlling the TVA. Strange also prioritizes the “survival of the multiverse” over local heroes, driven by pragmatism and an obsession with saving the multiverse.
Strange’s alliance with Doom explains why they don’t help the Avengers: they believe Doom’s plan is the only way to save the multiverse from incursions.
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
